In 2010-2011 Polaris partnered with Front Range Community College through the state's Concurrent Enrollment Act. In doing so students in grades 9 - 12 had the opportunity to enroll and earn college credit in the courses listed below.
The classes were taught here on our Polaris campus with a FRCC instructor. Students who complete these courses are beginning their college careers while earning high school credit simultaneously. We are proud to say that we have two current 9th graders that have accumulated 6 college credits from FRCC. All courses we offer through FRCC are guaranteed to transfer within any public post-secondary institution within Colorado. In 2011 - 2010 we will be offering Comparative Religions during first semester and Music Theory second semester. To enroll in these courses a student must take FRCC's Accuplacer Exam, register with the College Opportunity Find, and apply directly to FRCC. HUM 115 World Mythology Introduces students to the mythologies of various cultures with a special emphasis on Greece, Asia and North America. Common themes are illustrated and some artistic reactions are used as examples. ANT 101 Cultural Anthropology Studies human cultural patterns and learned behavior. Includes linguistics, social and political organization, religion, culture and personality, culture change, and applied anthropology. |
What people say:"I have two former Polaris graduates in my courses at Front Range. Early in the semester these two gentleman quickly distinguished themselves in their respective classes, they did this by the quality of critical think skills they brought to the class, coupled with outstanding writing and speaking skills. I was not surprised to learn they had attended Polaris."
